How the LCD screen works

The composition and working principle of the liquid crystal display: From the structure of the liquid crystal display, whether it is a notebook screen or a desktop LCD display, the use of LCD screen is composed of different parts of the layered structure. The LCD display consists of two plates, about 1mm thick, separated by 5um uniform intervals containing liquid crystal materials.

Because the liquid crystal material itself does not glow, so at the bottom of the display is equipped as a light source lamp, and on the back of the LCD screen there is a backlight (or uniform plate) and reflective film, the backlight is composed of fluorescent material, can emit light, its role is mainly to provide a uniform backlight.

The light emitted by the backlight enters the liquid crystal layer containing thousands of liquid droplets after passing through the first layer of polarization filtration layer. Droplets in the liquid crystal layer are contained in a small cell structure, and one or more cells make up one pixel on the screen.

Between the glass plate and the liquid crystal material is a transparent electrode, the electrode is divided into rows and columns, at the intersection of rows and columns, by changing the voltage and change the spinning state of the liquid crystal, the role of liquid crystal materials is similar to a small light valve.
